Welcome to The …

Welcome to The Vegan’s Husband.

Last New Year’s, my wife decided to go vegetarian. My response was that that was fine, but I refused to stop eating meat. Eight months later, she told me that she was going to stop eating all animal products. I was not thrilled. We worked out vegetarian options and things that we could swap out easily. Seven months later, I was thinking about some things my wife told me, and I decided that I could no longer eat meat.

I’d like to use this blog to discuss how we eat, and what changes I’ve made and what I eat, especially as a huge foodie. I’ll also take time to whine about my job, complain about things that annoy me, and get some of my random ideas down.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Welcome to the blog world! I look forward to reading your posts (and I’m adding you to my blogroll!) 🙂

  2. Thanks for starting this blog; it reminds me of my husband and I. However, we seem to have to fallen into a rut. I cannot seem to shake my coffee habit (which I really want to do). Also, how did your wife and yourself make the ‘complete’ transition? We have stopped eating meat but not much else. Any suggestions?

    • Well, for one we still drink coffee every morning. We make sure that it is organic and fair trade, so at least it seems like there isn’t any issue with our being vegan. As for stopping our dairy habit, we just kind of stopped. We haven’t liked milk for years, so the transition to almond milk for cereal was easy, and So Delicious makes a coconut creamer, which is a really good constancy for adding to coffee. After that, the only hurdle is cheese. I haven’t figured out how I’ll react when I’m offered pizza yet 😉 Remember, it’s about direction, not perfection. Just keep trying to do the right thing, and you’ll get there, and thanks for visiting. Hopefully I’ll be somemore help going forward!

  3. Congrats on the conversion! I am still veg-going-on-vegan and my boyfriend is omnivore, but will eat pretty much whatever I make (except seitan), so I know how tough it can be to live in a split-eating environment. I look forward to future posts!

    • Thanks for stopping by. Really, your bf won’t eat seitan? Try making tacos with it ground up. At some pint I’m going to make seitan Italian sausages, and I’m sure I’ll need the topic to write about, so I’ll probably post it. Maybe that will interest him. . .
