Baltimore Vegan Drinks – At Johnny Rad’s
Recently, the Blonde and I went to Johnny Rad’s in Baltimore, for a monthly event called “Baltimore Vegan Drinks.”
Johnny Rad’s is a hang-out bar, with a punk / skater feel about it. The TVs are constantly playing skater-trick videos, and there are skate boards on the walls. To finish the feel, they have skee-ball in the back, and they have a weekly skee-ball league for Baltimore locals.
When we first arrived, they had chips and salsa set out for those of us that were there, and we rapidly devoured them, while ordering, you, you guessed it, vegan drinks. I started with a Dale’s Pale Ale.
The fact that such a trendy bar/restaurant caters to vegans and vegetarians is pretty cool, but the fact that they have high quality pizza and a really solid beer list is unfairly awesome.
We, and our two close friends that we went with, split two pizzas, the “Templeton” and the “Trainwreck” with added vegan sausage, and then had the specialty dessert that they made just for the Vegan Drinks visitors: vegan rice crispy treats.
Now, I don’t love rice crispy treats, but the Blonde does, so we we split two after crushing both pizzas.
Because this was an evening out, after dinner and dessert, I had another beer, a Stoudt’s Scarlet Lady Ale.
Now, this entry isn’t about the beer, it’s about the food. We’ve been to Johnny Rad’s before, and had they vegan Chick’n Cheesesteak and the Templeton before. I also knew that they had a pretty good beer selection, both on tap and in bottles and cans. Knowing this certainly didn’t make it any less exciting to go out with friends and hang out with some good people.
We are actually really looking forward to the March visit
