Beer Wednesday – Stegmaier Pale Ale

Happy Beer Wednesday!

This week, I’m continuing my case review of Stegmaier’s beer. The vegan beer I’m sampling this week I’m drinking Stegmaier’s Pale Ale.

This beer is pretty light tasting, with a nice lacing in the glass. Unfortunately, the color and lacing are probably the best parts of the beer.

Stegmaier, Pale Ale, Ale, Pennsylvania Ale, Wilkes-Barre, Wilkes Barre Beer, Wilkes Barre Ale, stemaier brewery, Lion Brewery, mediocre pale ale, pennsylvania beer, PA beer, PA ale, pennsylvania ale, pennsylvanai pale ale, PA pale ale

The ale has very little nose, with just a little bitter hops. Those hops come back at the finish, and not in a very pleasant way. You know how sometimes people complain about “bitter beer?” Well, this is the kind of beer that people are complaining about. It was very light in flavor, both at the start and throughout, until the finish, when it just tasted like bitterness. This is the second of Stegmaier’s beers that I though tasted “beer-y,” in the least pleasant way possible.

Probably the best part of this beer was the fact that it is vegan, but other than that. . . I’m not even sure it really qualifies as a pale ale, just sort of a”beer.” I remember hearing about a generic beer in a can from the 60s and 70s in a white can, with a red label that said simply, “BEER.” This beer would go well in that can.

Disappointingly, this beer was pretty weak. I didn’t really enjoy it much, and that’s kind of sad, because I do love a pale ale. I’m quite disappointed to give this beer a 2/6 on my six-pack scale. Drinkable, but hardly worth spending your money on.

  1. […] light, easy drinking beers that I’ve reviewed (like Yuengling, Sum’r, Grateful, or Stegmaier’s Pale Ale) this one falls about the same, maybe on the higher end of the easy-drinking-pale-ale […]
